I'm wondering if anyone would have extra lambs ear they could spare/trade. I have some lovely (creamy/peach) hollyhock seeds or purple iris that I could trade. Please let me know if anyone, especially in northern Illinois can help out. Thanks!

It's only a weed if you can't use it!

Do you want plants or seed? I have both, but very few plants as of now. I'd be interested in the iris.

the iris are smaller rhizomes I thinned out of my mom's garden. I'd be happy to send you some. I don't think I'll need the lambs ear after all. My DH has vetoed lamb's ear. Let me know how many you would like on the purple iris.

Sorry DH vetoed. Lamb's Ears are such a nice, fuzzy-wuzzy silver border herb. And I think they're deer resistant too.

Don't really need the iris--although I love 'em. But I thought it was a decent trade off. Would you be interested in something else? I have some yellow lilies that are about to bloom. They were here when I arrived and I have no idea what name/variety (like a daylily). I could eventually trade a few of those or Lily-of-the-Valley pips.

I too would love to know why "DH" "vetoed" Lambs Ear.

It's absolutely beyond lovely in both herb & ornamental gardens, providing texture that really no other plants (except maybe Mullein) can provide. While it does eventually spread, it's not invasive & is easy to remove or divide to plant in other areas.

What, exactly, does "DH" have against it? (And although it's probably not "politically correct" to ask, why does "DH" have the ultimate yay or nay re: what gets planted in the garden? I really had a laugh that one.)

DH has the last say in planting the house/landscaping beds as he is a landscaper. I get the final say in the main gardens and the herb garden.
DH vetoed lamb's ear as he thinks it spreads too much for the site I am trying to re-work.
Thanks for the lily offers but we already have our fill of lilies. In fact I've been dividing and sharing them with a friend that re-doing her landscaping.
I'm not sure what I'll use in the site. Having gardeners lock!
