those blue poppies are very popular up here in Alaska. They really need to be old before the clump is very good though.

I am assuming there is only one blue poppy. Ours is very tall...3 feet maybe? Fuzzy plant, lanceolate (sp?)leaves. Big single flowers of a light sky blue.

I should have said.....poppy seeds are very easy to collect. I just don't have any now. But if you wanted some and were able to remind me next fall, I could collect some for you and send them to you.

thanks for the pictures! Yep, exact same plant. I am not very fond of them since the flowers are so droopy...see how in lots of those photos the flower leans to the side and slightly down? Not like a standard up-facing poppy.

I should say that I am in the minority, most people adore them! Big Grin The flowers are super big. The roset (sp?)stays nice and inconspicuous until the flower stalks shoot up, and they are very tall.

Don't forget to remind me, maybe in July (I can't remember what month they usually bloom...but July should be safe).

A friend and I here in Zone 3/4 are trying blue poppies. We got plants and seeds last year. Have only had luck with plants so far and even had a few blossoms. Will keep trying!

Thought I would let everyone know that one of my blue poppies survived. It was from a transplant last yeat. It had one bloom and now has a second bloom. So they do survive in zone 3/4 in Wyoming. I would love to have some seeds if anyone has some.

I have a few Blue poppy seeds to trade. First, I have to know what zone they grow in. Everyone has told me they require at least zone 6, but by reading your replies, I see that isn't true. Please help!

I'm in WY in zone 3/4. Do you mean you want to trade blue poppy seeds? I deadhead my one plant so it will bloom more so have no seeds. Would be glad to gather delphinium or columbine seeds in trade, though.

OK...I have sent my Mom to check on the giant blue poppy...the seeds aren't ripe yet....

Remind me in another week, and I will have her check again.

Unfortunately, I didn't think to tell the weeder that I might want the tiny seedlings. There might be a few hiding around the edges though...will have my mom look.

Hello everyone. my name's calin. male. 33 yo. from oradea, romania. as i see, most of you are from the US. but i am from the kingdom of far far away, it seems.

i still hope to find some new friends here.

i am quite interested in house/pot plants that would be deemed as exotic here, and also for perennials for my parents' garden... plants that withstand harsh winters and come back the following spring.

so... i guess i'd also like to ask alaskan or anyone for some blue poppy seeds... they are perennials and as i have read on the net, doesn't like too hot summers.

i would like to give it a try!

if you, alaskan, still got some seeds... (or anyone else) please let me know... and i can send you some flower seeds i have right now - columbines, lupines, red hot pokers, hibiscus trionum, gazania (all colors), dark pink with orange lip snapdragons, dark purple almost black hot peppers.

please let me know what you would like for your blue poppy!

CALIN
