Not many, but after digging up my patch and moving it, I still have volunteers. I can get 6-10 starts if anybody wants them. I don't need much for seeds, maybe oregano or some flowers.

Hi Jim, sounds good. Maybe some of the peppermint ones and whatever else you have the most of. The marigolds can be for a pest deterrent.
Oh, can you plant them yet or do we need to wait a bit? They have 2" of green growth. Probably don't want to wait long, though. Bare root, or semi-dormant is better for planting with berry canes, as far as I know.

Do raspberry bushes grow in Florida? I'm coastal, so more of a zone 9...but, it gets HOT. There is decent shade in the yard.
If so, I would love some: orchidorchidorchid (*at*) gmail (dot) com.
I can trade you a variety of things. If you still have cuttings available- message me, and I'll email you a list.

I apologize to everybody about not responding to you about this post. I am not happy with the raspberries. I am declaring them INVASIVE Mad and will probably dig up all the ones I put in my new bed and either put down bamboo barrier or sink plastic barrels in the bed to hold them back. Here's a couple pics of my old garden from this morning. As you can see, wooden raised beds don't slow them down. Anybody still willing to give it a try, let me know. Otherwise, I am digging all the volunteers up and sharing them locally on craigslist and freecycle. Gardening doesn't have to be this much work. There are other varieties of them that have to be easier to deal with.
First pic. They were growing in the dark colored soil bed in lower left. Now they are in the path and the upper bed to the right

Second pic is the path between my tall raised bed and their old bed

All posters above, you have mail
Man, I wish I knew the true story about red raspberries before I built them a big new bed. Last year was the second year with them. First year they were in a half barrel, no problems. Last year I planted them in a raised bed and this year, they think they own the place. I googled them as invasive and found out they can be.
"Raspberries are very vigorous and can be locally invasive. They propagate using basal shoots (also known as suckers); extended underground shoots that develop roots and individual plants. They can sucker new canes some distance from the main plant. For this reason, raspberries spread well, and can take over gardens if left unchecked."
source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raspberry
Another source recommended tilling in between rows 3-4 times a year to cut off the runner roots they produce. Not gonna happen at my house, sorry. I don't till and it doesn't work with raised beds anyway. Lesson learned. I will share all mine with you guys, but I had to tell you what I found, so you won't hate me if they take off at your place.

Funny Jim. Big Grin I learned several years ago about spearmint. Mine is growing in a 5 gallon bucket submerged in my flower garden. It isn't real happy, but it stays in place.

i would take all you can throw at me, will reimbers any postage, dont want to sound greedy as i'm not, but looks like i feller could start a decent sized berry patch, we have the wild black ones out along the fence in the back fourty, they do real well, but you can see where the farm equipment keeps it in check, they realy produce good.

I don't mind if they are invasive. I'm not putting them in a formal bed. I have lots of space and will use them for dividing my property. Invasive is good.
I sent you a SASE yesterday.
Thanks

Anita, Regina, Maria and Jim your raspberries are on the way. That is all the mailed requests I have gotten so far. I will see if there are any more. After seeing what I did digging these up, I will have some to share forever Frowner I decided to go to the effort of digging up the whole new bed and putting in some old metal roofing panels about 15" deep all around, then replanting all the red raspberries I already planted there. They are so happy and we love to eat them, so I am going for it. My thinking is if I seal all around the box, then I will only have to do it once. Works on paper, right?
