I have only found Lynch's Butterbean in the Seed Saver's Exchange. There are no Canadian sources. I really, really want to try growing these beauties. I understand that these beans will have to be coddled in order to get them growing in zone 5, as they are a southern U.S. type. I am an experienced gardener and seed saver, so the seeds will be safe in my hands.

I have many, many heirloom seeds in my collection, mostly vegetables that I could trade for the butterbeans with. Or perhaps one of those folks that I've sent seeds to over the years (including gridgardener)could get me 10-20 seeds. It is very difficult for me to get seeds across the border since 2008, but one packet shouldn't be a problem.

Can anyone help me out? Email is Shelley(underscore)Baptie11(at symbol)msn(dot)com
Let me know if there is something I can get for you in exchange.

Wow, I didn't think this would be such a hard variety to get a hold of!

I've looked in about 15 sites and haven't found the Lynch's even in the Seed Savers Exchange (as of today). My wife loves butterbeans and I've never grown them so I thought I might try them, but so far no luck--I'll let you know if I find them.

I've found three sources now.

1) The South Carolina Foundation Seed Association:

2) Southern Seed Legacy:

3) Seed Saver's Exchange Yearbook:

Were you able to get some?

You can call me Hairy, Moose, or Knuckle. Knucklehead is ok too, as well as Anthony, Tony or perhaps if you prefer, an old Fudknucker .

It don't matter what you call me; as long as you call me in time for supper!

Not yet. I have a couple of people trying, though.

Hey Loamy!

Just saw this post...any luck?

I checked out the sites, emailed the SSL and printed an order form from #1 on your web list.

I am not a member of SSE but looked at their online order selections and it is very limited. Of course it does not list the Lynch's for sale on there!

Anyway, email me if you still need help with this! After all, didn't I send you some grits??? LOL! Big Grin
