You can plant them, although I doubt any giant Elephant bulb would come out of then for a few years, but ive never tried them.

JamesM, when my kids want to help me with any gardening chore, I dont care what they wear,lol...and I sometimes wear a sundress while weeding, wanna see a pic???

Maybe if you post a pic of them weeding I can get mine to give it a better shot. They are good about planting, spreading grass clippings and mulch, training the vines up the trellises and mostly picking, but not so much with weeding. Maybe if you post a pick I can say "see, other kids think it's fun".

Nice pics! I think it's unanimous. We all got 3" big E. bulbs. Did anybody do any better than that? Mother nature is telling us something Confused We all need to measure them, just so we know for the contest. I am not entering mine, just a softneck this year. So, any of you with big E.,hardnecks, softnecks and Rocco, you need to post the size, so I can put the numbers in the entries. Has everybody taken measurements and posted them? I haven't recorded any of them so far. Eeker

Hey Dave,
I just harvested my Ukrainian Red today. Harvested the German White last week. And I'll probably harvest the Music this coming weekend - though I'm not expecting any of the Music to be anywhere near as large as the other two.

I've still got to measure some more and take pics, but I don't think I'll beat Lisaann's 2.8. This year's crop wasn't nearly as robust as last year's. About half of my German White heads appear to be around 2.5 - 2.6. And I found one 2.75 Ukrainian Red a few minutes ago.

Last year's crop had much larger heads.

But I still have more in DW's herb garden that I haven't harvested. They're probably about a week or two from harvest now.

Dave, I posted mine on the Garlic Contest thread, not that I think I'm winning or anything Frowner. There are others posted on that thread, also.
