I did pull the dirt from around them last week, and they look fabulous so far. Small...but bulbing nicely. Some are reallllllly small, but that's alright.

So the lesson we have learned for next year is...buy sets for our growing season(long day for the north, short day for the south), plant them early, April here in the north....1 inch deep in the soil, and let them grow on top of the soil when they bulb.
When they get big, or start to brown and flop over that way, they are ripe for the picking...and done for the season.
