Hi Dave, How ya doing? Yep, I wanted to see a picure of everyone's planting stock. Here is a picture of a few individual cloves of some of the stock I planted. I got them in on the 21st. Then on the 22nd, I replanted them after 6 squirrels dug them up and birdnetted them. Lord I hate to have to use birdnetting. It looks hideous. Anyway, my indidvidual cloves were a pretty nice size, so I am hoping for some good results. I have more space now, so I was more generous with the spacing. Right up till the end, when I was running out of space, and just had to stick a few more in, haha Snicker. GOOD LUCK TO ALL YOU GARLIC GROWERS. HOPE WE HAVE A BANNER YEAR. IT SURE IS NICE TO SEE SOME MORE FIRST TIME GROWERS. I LOVE THAT.

Went to the farmers market on saterday and spent $20 on organic garlic so now I have some very nice stock to plant. Got some spruce to make a raised bed and I have it primed and ready to paint,I will line it with plastic to preserve the wood 8x4 I'm soooo excited. My first raised bed and I'm putting it right in the middle of the garden where it will get lots of sun.I have to get some good dirt somewhere though. Mavis

In South Georgia you should be able to go ahead and plant garlic now (if you can find some) The "book" says that softnecks are better for southern gardners, but I'm trying several different types to see which are going to do well and give me the taste I want. I'd recommend you jump in (I even planted some from the grocery, loose, from the "organic" section when I couldn't find any--then ordered some when I found a source that still had some) and see what happens. Around here, you can find lots of garlic in the spring--but if you plant in spring it's 16 months before you want to harvest the whole crop since you harvest for storage in July or so. There's a HUGE garlic thread that covers maybe a couple of years in the "over the fence" forum--more info than I ever knew existed!!! Welcome--and enjoy.
