MHG,
Read the link to local harvest you provided, and agree with Ohio's response on the recalls that are happening daily. Heck at the rate everything is going with that, maybe all the big suppliers will be bankrupt and out of business by the time you start selling this year's produce! And you'll get rich.
Now, on the backyard hobbyist, versus the farmer such as yourself, well, hmmm!
Yep, those people do it because it is fun, and they have other job's, and don't mind practically giving thier produce away at markets. They are not there at the market to make a living, only there to make a penny and share all the produce they couldn't stop themselves from growing. The disease of too many seeds, so must plant, can't help myself. Now what can I do with all this produce? So they pack up and head to market.
Now, how do you plan on competing with that type of vendor? They don't care how much profit they come home with, it's thier entertainment for the week. Maybe they should not let hobbyist be vendor's?
How do you beat out the guy, that's there for fun?
Oh, Good morning! Saturday and rainy! Waiting on my uncle and his weekly Saturday morning visit! I love Saturdays!
Hope all is well with all of you!

Good mornin'. Clear and a crisp 0* this morning.....probably won't stay that warm for long as the weather gal just said we have a cold front moving our way droppin' down from the NW......hahahahabrrrrrrr !!! But Robin's have been spotted in Mo. and slowly moving north and the geese were gathering last weekend headed north, so spring can't be too far behind. I hope i hope I hope.......
If you can grow food, you have a cosmic obligation to feed those that can't.

No you're not. Too much work. Billboard is expensive. Zoning doesn't allow for sign or produce stand. You've got nobody to mind it for you while you're at work. Blah, blah, blah. Anyway, if you want to raise all this stuff and give it away for free, then maybe you can just give it all to me. 9:00 CST should be ok w/ me. That's after we've sprung forward, right? Ha ha.

lisaann, we actually DO have daylight savings time. I thought it was Arizona that didn't do 'it' There *is* a group here in town that is yelling for No daylight savings time AND a switch to Hawaii time. Supposedly that would get the clock time closer to the sun time...... But how is that possible? If the amount of sun we get every day changes by 5 minutes or so a day???
