New PM!

watch your email, girlie just kidding, I will not ever have a speedo. I was so happy to be spending the whole day in the garden today, it made me giddy New experiment tomorrow. I am planting one of the new tomato beds full of beets and carrots inside a portable greenhouse that exactly fits the bed. If they are still there come tomato planting day, I will harvest just those in the way and let the maters grow while the rest matures. DW is thrilled. She wasn't expecting me to plant beets for a while. Her new fave veggie.
Muddy knees David! Compost is my friend. Every day I enroll in gardening school. Some days it feels like kindergarten!

And here I thought we were planning a gathering at MooreHaven's this summer! Yikes the weather really sucks here right now. It's downright wicked. Took me 1 hr 35 min to get home from work yesterday, 30 miles. Blowing snow, the road covered with ice. I'm talking 20 mph at best. Cars in the ditch. Now it's the wind chill. Visibility 0 in spots. In 15 yrs. this is the worst I have driven in. And the sun was shining! I'm going to attempt going to work this morning, but will probably turn around and come back. It's not worth freezing to death in the ditch at 4 a.m.

I seem to remember the winter of 83'-84' or 84'-85' having wind chills of -90......can't say my memory is right, but I do know there were alot of water pipes froze for an extended period of time, and the wind howled for days. Mumsey - having said that, now you gotta check back in and let us know you're ok. ( the weatherman say's she's having a worse time than me as she's abit east and north of me )

Well, DH went out at 3:30 this morning to check out the highway, he said there's no way. So I called in. I'm too old to be taking the risks I used to take! And when I heard the highway patrol were accompanying tow trucks to look for ditched cars, that pretty much made the decision for me. As of this afternoon, the road conditions have not improved. MooreHaven, I'm quite a bit farther north than you, near the Hwy 20 corridor. There was a fatality on that highway last night. I don't know what they did when they built that road, but there are alot of accidents on it, rain snow or shine. I'm off tomorrow, so don't have to deal with it til Tuesday morning again.

We just gone done, but there's some left for ya! Man they were good, I added some garlic, basil and chunks of cheddar cheese. This isn't the recipe forum, but these are so good and really easy: 2 c. flour 4 T. mayo (no substitutions) 3 tsp. baking powder 1 c. milk Add any spices, etc. that you wish. Makes 8. Simmer with noodles for 20 minutes, covered, and don't peek! I use the dry noodles that are like home-made, thick (Mrs. Bonzer's Taste of Iowa, made here in Iowa). Put them and the dumplings in the broth at the same time, they both take 20 minutes. So yummy on a cold night. MHG, you'll have to bring food for your dogs. We are low on that.

mayo...in the dumpling mix? hummmm I usually just make my biscuits and toss them in the pot for the dumplings oh, and Mumsey, at least up here, when it is clear....that is when the weather is the worst. A blanket of clouds seems to keep everything warmer.
