Mrs.K--If you have an Ace hardware or a True Value, Lowe's or HD near you, you can probably find some garlic to plant, altho your choices will be limited. I avoid the boxed garlic, but organic garlic from a fresh foods type store (Fresh market--or a local natural food co-op or garden market--even a health foods store) should have untreated garlic which would be suitable for planting. I've picked up a few heads from a local market that specializes in organics and exotics and am planting them this month to see if my theory is corect--I'm supposing that "organic" will NOT be treated like some of the nationally boxed brands.

Well, it doesn't look like I've been a Friday night cheerleader since March 27th. Holy cow! I have to fix that so.....................

IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!! clap AND I WOULDN'T WANT IT ANY OTHER WAY!!!!

It's raining here. We have received 1½" so far, and it's supposed to rain the ENTIRE weekend. (grumble)

Woodstove is stoked. Brussel sprouts are FINALLY getting some size to them. Had to pluck off the tops of the plants and force those puppies into growing.

Leaves are changing here. Only ones falling though are landing in my watergarden. Well, of course they land there. Because that's the last place I want them. Hoping to get that thing closed down and covered soon.

Liz,

I read on the blessing post you were taking a 2000 mile trip! Where ya going?

MrsK,

I didn't know you were going to be a grandma too? I'll be one by the end of the month. It's a girl and the final name is going to be:

Summer Reign

I'm still praying for a BOY! I hope the sonograms have been WRONG!!!!!

I NEED to stick something in some dirt, for my piece of mind, so, tomorrow I shall plant two peach pits and stick them in the fridge for a few months.

They have avacados on sale for a $1. Gonna get one of them tomorrow to play with. I've toothpicked them before and sprouted them, only problem with them are, they grow fast and way tooo tall for inside the house. But it's been awhile since I had one, so I am hoping hubby forgot all that. Wink

So..............

Whatcha all doing this weekend?

Whatever it is, I hope your tired, sore, but very satisfied by Monday morning when we go back to the grind.

Yay Friday Cheerleader! Big Grin

We are supposed to warm up a little this weekend, so I am going to try and cram most of the essential summer wind-down into two busy days:

Remove any remaining vines from garden
Put new lightbulb in outdoor post lamp; hope it works
Cut grass
Fix fence where neighborhood kids trampled it down Mad
Harvest remaining beets
Put in driveway markers
Transplant one small tree
Clean gutters
Plus making another batch of salsa and whatever I have time for to use perishable harvested veggies.

There is a ton more work to do in the garden, but I doubt I will get to it this weekend. Hopefully November will be warm and dry, b/c I will be visiting family in Ohio for the last part of October. Otherwise, I guess I will have to hope for an early spring.

Just wanted to say hello to MHG. It's good to hear how you're doing. I know I have found my garden to be a very healing place, and also a good way to remember our lost loved ones. I will continue to keep you in my prayers.

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!!!

(Picture at the end of post.)

So yesterday, I became a Gammy, and hubby became a Pap. And my son became a father. And my daughter in law became a mother, and is tired! Haha

And what was the first thing I did? Well, like all Gammy's, I wanted to see if she had any traits on our side. Haha

She has my son and Hubby's nose. Daughter in law's beauty, and I think she'll have my curly hair. Poor kid.

Anyway, she's even cuter than my son was, when he was born! HOW CAN THAT BE? No one can be cuter than my only child! Oh, well, maybe my only grandchild!

Here is SUMMER REIGN

8 pounds 2 ounces, 21 inches long. This happened at 6:45pm 10/29.

PICTURES?

Liz,

Did you say pictures? WOO HOO! Can't wait to see and hear about everything! Glad you are home safe! Glad Max was such a good little guy!

MrsK,

When is your grandbaby coming? Not sure if I saw that? Do you know what you are getting?
I almost forgot to tell you: I made those 6 hour rolls a few weeks ago and they were a big hit. Thank you so much for posting that recipe. I am going there now to bring it to the top and recommend it to all that have bread lovers in the family.

I made a hog maw today. It was one of those rainy, chilly days that warranted some comfort food. Pork bellies are now in season here again. You can never find them in the summer here. I guess most people don't want the oven on for 3-4 hours in the summer.

My garlic's in, the onion seeds are sown. I've only got one late tomato, some greens, lettuce, carrots, lamb's quarters and pitiful looking fall sugar snaps going on.

The garden is taking a backseat to finishing the house (yes, we're *still* working on it Smiler BUT, it's paid up to this point and we should be in in a couple of months)... hopefully all done in time for spring planting Big Grin

WoooooooooHooooooooooo! Congratulations Lisaann!

Don't get on here every day anymore, but I'm so glad I checked in this morning to see your gorgeous and lovable Summer Reign!!!

Now that you're a Gammy, you're going to be so busy teaching her about everything and we'll be watching another baby grow on OG. Mrs. K, we'll be waiting along with you as well.

They are all PURE LOVE!
