There's a reason why people who live in the country lock their car doors in the summer.
To prevent Random Acts of Zucchini, where you return to find various summer squashes piled on the passenger seat.

Next time around, read up a bit on squash & how much space they take up.
Thanks to all! Yes, I ordered a book about them from the library. Too bad my other stuff doesn't grow as well as squash!

allenwrench, Growing up is the way to go with squash. This is the best picture I have right now, but it shows a fence section wired to two posts and small squash plants on each end that I would help train around the fence to keep them off the ground. (That's a cucumber plant climbing a few small tomato cages in the lower right foreground) This one shows that they do grow and hold on until harvest. Great space saver, but be prepared to train and argue with it. It still likes to creep all over.

There's a yellow squash sitting on my stove right now. 2 feet long, 7" diameter. It was hiding under the leaves.
Muddy knees David! Compost is my friend. Every day I enroll in gardening school. Some days it feels like kindergarten!
