this is my second year of blackberries.the berries were huge and delicious but towards the end got moldy.they got out of control and ate my garden. can i prune them to grow like grape vines with a main trunk and 2 2nd year stems off each side?I think the berries grow on the second year growth.any ideas?

PLAYTIME. MOST BLACKBERRY BUMBLES PRODUCE FRUIT THE 2ND YEAR. GO ON THE WEB TO SEE WHAT TYPE YOU HAVE AND HOW TO PRUNE THEM AND MAKE THEM PRODUCE A LARGER CROP. I DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE BT HERE IN NY STATE THIS YEAR, LOT OF THE BUMBLES MOLDED DUE TO WET WEATHER AT BOTH GROWING AND HARVESTING TIME. YOU CAN PRUNE OUT ALL THAT PRODUCED FRUIT THIS YEAR IF THEY AREN'T EVERBEARING BUMBLES.
