The bank I work at had many poinsettias left over after the holidays and they were just going to put them in the trash. How could I let them go in the trash?? Can poinsettieas be put on my compost? I don't want to throw them out, but I don't want to make a mistake with my compost either. Can someone help??

I have put poinsettias in my compost every year (except the year I saved them and tried to get them to turn red again, which they did but not as nicely as the first year and it was way too much work anyway) and have had no problems. Lots of plants that are toxic to varying degrees can still be composted as far as I know. My compost has never killed a plant that I know of!
