The Cucumber Beetles can be a real pain, but there is hope. Many places will tell you to do a diligent garden clean up in the fall so they do not have some place to overwinter, however, that also cleans up places where they beneficial insects that can help control these pests might overwinter. There are two types of Cucumber Beetles, the Stripped and the Spotted also known as the corn rootworm and both feed on a wide variety of plants. Floating row covers (which may mean hand pollinating), parasitic nematodes, hand squishing eggs found on plant leaves, maybe spraying with Neem Oil or pyretrin based products.
The sign of a good gardener is not a green thumb, it is brown knees.
