Hi again,

What is the best medium to start seeds in? Do you buy a specialized mixture for this? I have just been using potting soil but seeds seem to be struggling a bit. (as well as the fact that potting soil has chemical fertilizers in it.) What do all you organic gardeners use?

We had a great discussion about this last winter. Use the search feature for these forums and look for the topic "Homemade Seed Starting Mix" or something similar. There were about a dozen folks who listed their secret recipes and I'd bet almost all of them were technically superior to store-bought potting soil.

Lambert potting mix: mostly quality Canadian spaghnum moss. I find it helps to mix it in a bucket with water to make a mud. This goes into the seed trays/packs and is allowed to drain well prior to planting.
