We have a very tall lovely, sick pine tree on our property. The trunk is as large as a five gallon bucket and it is much taller than our one story house. It is yellowish and has lots of sap bleeding out of it. It is very close 15 feet or so, from 3 other pine tree that are healthy. Can I do anything to help it get well, should I cut it down to save the nearby healthy trees? The only symptoms I can see are the ones I have described. Thanks, Cindy D
I'm not sure where you are located but your problem might be a bark beetle. If so, you should find out soon before the critters destroy the other trees. See the following web sites for more information and contact your local extension specialist:
edaphophile, thanks for the info, I really appreciate all the links! The tree is bleeding out of the south east side only, at just about every place a branch comes out of the tree. I see no sign of boreing dust and the needles are not brown, just very scarce, but I will call an extention agent to be sure. Thanks.
