What can I do to help "train" my vines. They're doing a GREAT job of eliminating the weeds but I'm afraid if I don't do something I might lose the good stuff too. Is pruning in order here? If so, how??

Thanks

I don't understand what the problem is. Are the vines too big? Not enough room? Please be more specific.

Yes!!!

They are just going EVERYWHERE. I am wondering if I can prune them back before they reach the other plants like my sweet potatoes and cucumbers. I have quite a few pumpkins growing already and I've read that if you don't prune them they won't be very desirable. Is this true?

I don't know, this is the first year I've actually had pumpkins, watermelons and cantaloupes to grow. Coincidentally, this is also my first year growing organic. Hummm.....now, what does that tell ya!!

Don't let the main vines get any longer than about ten feet. This will cause the vine to concentrate on sending out side shoots for fruit production. Keep those shoot to about five to ten feet as well.
