Of course you are right Kimm. It seems natural and right to mulch over winter like I always do. I don't know how I got so many cucumber beetles this year, I haven't had a problem with them before. I wasn't able to control them and I'm concerend about next year.

After reading through these posts and checking out the Mother Earth article, I'm beginning to re-think cover cropping the beds in our garden. I love the idea of composting/mulching the beds with the debris from this year to make next year's soil richer.
Our only new compost pile is pretty close to the garden, but we do want to build a three bin enclosure this fall, a cold frame and an arbor with gates for the entrance. Cool weather coming soon, I hope.
