I grilled salmon tonight and sliced up 2 cloves of big e. and put them on top. Cooked it in foil. Salmon was great, big e. had some kick, I tell you! Red Face I never had that happen before. I don't use regular garlic on fish as it can overpower the dish. Well, if you only used one little clove, maybe but who can resist adding more than one? MHG gave me that idea, btw. DW and I both double checked the bulb I got them off. Only had one clove left and it was huge, like almost ping pong ball size. Had to be big e? I will try a different bulb from my stash to see if it's true. The only thing I can think of is the energy that should have gone into making the bulbs 4 +" went into flavor and the heat was concentrated. I am still tasting it 3 hours later. They are gonna luv me at the doctor's office tomorrow a.m. Eeker GARLIC ON! Big Grin

Howdy Bill, I can vouch for the easy peel. It's pretty, fairly strong tasting and grows big. Big cloves and the skin doesn't fight you at all when peeling.

Actually, no. The fire had gone out by the time I got there. Big Grin Visit took all of 94 seconds. I got to hear the doc who did the shoulder x-ray tell me that if I needed another shot, he was there for me and if that didn't work, they could cut off the end of the collar bone for me. Did I tell you guys I really don't like doctors very much? Frowner They don't get it. You either get option A, drugs. Or, you can have option B, the KNIFE. Costs a ton, but it is way more glamorous and you really should think about it. Frowner Mad Excuse me, I am getting another beer. And most importantly, GARLIC ON! Cool

Wow, that is interesting! The same thing happened to me last year when I started some Genovese Basil. I made some sauce and pasta. My husband turns to me and says it's HOT hot. I figured it was just a sharp tasting basil. I tasted the sauce and wouldn't you know it? It really was spicy hot!

Where can I buy elephant garlic to grow?

Got any farmers markets nearby? Call around to some farms that sell their produce to the public. That's how I found mine. If you can't get anything local to you, which would be best, let me know. I can part with a few cloves to get you started.
