This week was fun. I picked 155 tomatoes. That’s almost 60 more than last week.
I brought in 2 dozen ears of corn put up 7 freezer bags.
Had a real bad case of squash bugs on my pumpkins but a daily douse of soapy water is keeping
Them at bay.
My sun flowers are nearly ready to cut down and put in the shed to dry.(all42 flowers)
I really like the Cosmonaut Volko tomato but they like to crack at the shoulders a lot.
The Ace tomato is real nice and meaty and also big at 6-8 ounces.(averages at 6.2)
I still haven’t gotten any tomatoes from Mule team or Rutgers. If anyone is growing any of these,
Let me know how you’re doing with them as to how many you’re getting.
Two of the four grapevines that are for raisins are ready to be picked and dehydrated. (usually 8 of the 12 trays are full of grapes. The other two grapevines will come on the first week in Sept. (Green and red seedless) my peaches (contender) taste ready but when I cut one in half you just can’t separate it from the pit yet. I’ll leave them on the tree another week they‘re real small this year and I don‘t have a clue to why. The apples are doing what apples are suppose to do and won’t be ready to be turned into apple sauce till September sometime.
Well, I best go for this week.
Gardening creates character and feeds the world.
Good luck…
