I went out this morning and took a pic of my three beds, lined up on the edge of my property line. That brings me up to 198 square feet, plus the flower bed, that I'm putting the peppers and okra in up by the pond. Haha What's that big flat rock doing leaning on my bed? Gotta move that. Looks hideaus! Hahaha

Okay, just got my pea fence up! Look at your shallots. Look real close. I put an 18 inch ruler in there, and the shallots are above it! Cool Now the training begins on the peas, till they start clinging to the fence, which is above the ground and about up to my neck, so 5 feet.

Hi Blue,

I finally took a picture of the hardy kiwi. One male, and one female. Necessary for pollination of this variety. I have them planted in the same hole. They are leafing out now. No flowers ever, but this is going to be their third summer here, and I am hoping this year I get flowers and fruit. Variety: Artic Beauty.

They are growing up the opposite side of the deck the luffas grew. Anyway 8 feet from the ground, and I have pruned them. The funny thing is: You should prune them like a grape vine. Guess I should have gotten pruning tips from you about that. Well, we shall see how it goes this year.

Hope all is well with your grapes, after your frost threat. Frost here tonight, I have brought everything I am hardening off inside.

If you remember, I have my brocolli and cabbage out there, and all was fine and everything was growing well, and now something chewed up one brocolli, and one is wilting and one cabbage is wilting. Guess I will end up with the amount of plants I had originally planned on setting out, or less! Grrrr!

Okay I'm rambling, as usual, sorry about that, couldn't help myself.

Hit me up, when you get a chance.

Those kiwis look really nice! It's interesting to hear that you should prune them like grapes.I'll try and find a good reference too on that.See if we can compare notes then.We had a hard frost on all the car windows this morning.I couldn't see the vines by the time I got home tonight so more nail biting and 1 more night of frost called for to live with and I'll see whats left after that Confused

Well Blue,

My sugar snaps are proving to be stubborn, to be trained up the fence, which is about 6 inches off the ground so I could get some extra height out of the fence. I must be patient and wait a few more days, and try again. By then they might be tall enough to hang on. Wind isn't helping me out either! Grrr.

I'll be checking the grapes for awhile now. Some times it takes a few days to really see what did or didnt get damaged.
I messed up my rows of snap peas when I planted. I must have pushed one row over when covering the seed because the row is about 4" away from the fence now.I'll be coaching them over to it for the rest of the spring I think.

It's true. I started that seed 1/13 to test the seed I saved. I planted them in the Flower bed Friday. Cool huh?

Yep, very cool!

I've got peppers flowering inside now. Flowers are open. Shook them already this morning. Wink

Might put them out under cold frame covers as early as next week. Air temps forecast in 60's for highs most of the week and no lows forecast below freezing. Soil temp is still a bit low though. Hope it comes up fast with the covers in place!

Blue,

I keep forgetting to ask you if you have this book?....Rodale's All New Enclopedia of of Organic Gardening? Copyright:1997. My mom found a copy at a yard sale and gave it to me, but I already have one. Would you care for it?

I browse through mine all the time. Well, let me know.
