Look for
An Illustrated Guide to Organic Gardening
Sunset Books
ISBN 0-376-03562-5

Basic but great for an overview!

Probably too late to plant new stuff, but companion gardening ROCKS.
Great Garden Companions
Sally Jean Cunningham
ISBN 0-87596-847-3

might not be too late to throw in some tansy, marigold, chives? What kinds of pests you got?

Rodale's "Successful Organic Gardening: Controlling Pests and Diseases" usually works for me. Also their Organic Gardening Encyclopedia.
