Well, if you were to ship some to me, I'd suggest packing it in the following recipe: Poached Salmon with Lemon-Ginger Sauce and Braised Spring Baby Garlic which I found online. Pack in dry ice and ship over-night by any of the major package delivery service (except DHL.) Oh... sorry, you meant like shipping a whole bulb? Wayne

Wayne~~~ After looking at the garlic photos here, I'm not sure mine is worthy of your recipe. That's why I'm testing it on the relatives first Dave- This means no baggies or anything, right? Do you think a month is long enough to dry it? A couple of garlic stories- After much consideration, I decided the best place to dry my garlic was in my unused spare bathroom. At least until the temperatures drop out of the 90's and the humidity gets lower and then maybe it goes to the shed. The airflow is excellent in that bathroom and nobody is using it. Then my sister came for a visit and got here before I got home. She opened the bathroom door and nearly got blown down the hall by the delicious scent of 38 heads of freshly picked garlic! The same day I had a friend visit from NYC. He took photos of it. Why would someone want photos of a bathroom full of garlic? I envision that the photos will be used to show the New Yorkers what life is like in NC With all the visitors, I had to transfer it to the spare bedroom....

LMAO, Barb. OOOOH they are going to be talking about you from now on "She finally lost it. Do you know what she has hanging in her bathroom?" A month should be sufficient for curing and yes, no baggies. The bulbs need to breathe. MHG told me that.
Muddy knees David! Compost is my friend. Every day I enroll in gardening school. Some days it feels like kindergarten!

......ummmmm...yep, breathing is important..... Basicly; if the outer skins are dry, it's good to ship. Regular mail, Priority Post; it will be fine. Best to make sure someone is gonna be on the other end to recieve it and get the package opened up right away. When I mail garlic, I just wrap the bulbs in newspaper and stuff in a box, pretty much like Dave said.
