Organic Gardening will upgrade its login and registration system on
December 11. The new system is needed to support some of the major site
enhancements that we are currently developing. The new system is shared with
other Rodale sites, including Prevention, Men's Health, Runner's World and Women's Health.

Yes, I do have the usual plumbing setup. But we are in a rural area and so have a well, pump, and septic system.
I love to read and think the humanure concept makes sense, so I wanted to read the book. Inspired by some of the postings on using urine in the garden/compost pile, hubby and I have been talking about going that far at least.
Since you have the old fashioned plumbing (or non-plumbing) setup, what do you do with your, ahem, humanure, might I ask?
Oops...I noticed that it was you who posted the details about how you use your humanure. Never mind my question. Seems to be working fine for you. Did you just figure out that system for yourself? I don't know if it would have occurred to me to use a bucket. An outhouse is what I would've assumed you'd use instead of a flush toilet.
Our bucket worked just fine all year round. We have always composted it but never used the compost on anything. It just always composted down to such a small pile. We are going back to the old system very shortly (hate the composting toilet- doesn't work)And will probably put it into our regular compost pile but let it sit a full year to work before we use it.
