I just want to know how to tell when my asian pears are ripe. I only have a few, but I'm not quite sure what I'm looking for.

If the pear comes easily loose from the tree, they are ready. If you pick with the gesture as if you were cocking back a handgun to blow the smoke off the barrel, like in the cowboy movies, not a downward pull, they should disconnect.

I've noticed on mine the skins get a little darker looking the more they sit there. They hold on the tree well, but you don't want the skins to get too tough.
