I'm crying and I can't believe this and I'm yelling at you that I am not worthy of this gift you have given me!
Let me start from the beginning of this evening:
I got home from work, tired and sad because hubby is working tonight, so I'd be alone, but thinking, that's okay, I'll come here and hang out and fry chicken livers.
Checked my garden, not much to check, shook my head at the luffas and came inside.
Hit the bathroom, grumbled about dishes on counter in kitchen, and went to check the mail, because I was hoping I'd get that letter telling me about the Cape Cod trip, which I did recieve that.
There was a box in the mailbox, didn't think much of it, because my son is always ordering things for that dumb motorcycle, so I laid it on the counter and started reading about my trip.
Son pops in to change and head for his girlfriend's house. I holler, you have a box here. He comes out saying he hasn't ordered anything this week, and looks at the box and says this is for you.
I finally study the box. He says, well aren't you going to open it? I look at him dumbfounded and I say OH MY GOD, look at that return address.
He says Yeah, so?
I said that is my garlic friend that won the Blue ribbon! Now it's his turn to say OH MY GOD! DO YOU THINK HE........? I said Cripes! I hope not, I am not worthy of such a gift!
I said to my son: You open it! He said: NO WAY! But I'll get you the scissors!
After that, well, I can barely remember anything!
My son was holding it and and admiring it and I screamed: Put that down! No touching. I gotta plant that! He jumps and laughs, and said I didn't hurt it Mom! He 21 years old and knows how I am about this stuff! HaHa
Snot was flying, tears were streaming down my face!
Then I yelled, camera! Son helped me real quick to take the pic.
Okay Guys! Dave sent me one of his prized Garlics! How will I ever repay this amasing gesture, is way beyond me.
DAVE! THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY GARLIC FILLED HEART!
Put the other garlic I am saving to plant next to Dave's. I sure hope this Maryland weather, will do Dave's garlic Justice at harvest time next year!
Okay, here is the pic:

LisaAnn, that is so cool! I'm so glad you learned to post pictures!
Maybe one of the things you guys should consider in the first garlic thread for next season is posting pix of our planting stock. Well, some of us can fit it all in one picture and others perhaps might not. That way we can track what turns out how. Cool idea, Ms. Queen of the GarlicHeads!

You are very welcome. It's the least I can do for all the good you are doing here. I laughed and almost snotted myself when I read your post. Good thing I wasn't taking a sip of beer or the laptop would have gotten hit. Thanks GT for helping and keeping the secret plan a secret.I sent the garlichead master one too. He knows, so I can tell. So, now there is gonna be a great garlic experiment to see if Oregon garlic will thrive back east. Who knows, maybe you both will kick my butt next year. That's the cool thing about gardening in general and specifically growing garlic. I may not have a great growing season and both of you might. We shall see, won't we?
Muddy knees David! Compost is my friend. Every day I enroll in gardening school. Some days it feels like kindergarten!
The "secret" was killin' me & when lisaann asked aout it on the other thread, it was really killin' me, but I thought you guys were joshin' us...just teasing, so I tried to control myself!
I sure hope I can move from my Balck Walnut infested soil here, but it is not looking like I will be able to do it before garlic planting season, so I don't know what I'll do about that.
I will HAVE to plant some garlic SOMEWHERE! In a few pots to transplant, maybe? Depends on where & when I move.
I am wondering if that stupid tree affected my beautiful garlic plants this year, now! Hmmmmm.....dreaded trees!
I too have recieved my gift from Dave; most impresive. And much appreciated. Guess I must be tired and garlic-jaded tho, I didn't have any snot flying.......
I don't have anything near that impressive in size to recipricate with, but will be getting a couple ( a soft and a hard ) of my varieties back to him to play with also.
Bean - I can tell you that your Walnut definately did have an effect on everything growing near it. You didn't happen to use it's leaves as mulch in a heavy concentration, did you........?
If you can grow food, you have a cosmic obligation to feed those that can't.

Deborah, there are gentler ways of making your wishes known. Your post comes across as very harsh and I'm sure if you re-read it you will see what I mean. After 8 months here, I've not found anyone (with the exception of the resident 'troll' who was here when I first joined) who intentionally tried to offend others.
