According to the instructions (from NC Cooperative Extension) I got when I bought mine, they can take the cold. It was around 40's maybe 30's at ngiht. This was 3 weeks ago. I planted them right away and the leaves are really taking off on them. Do you have to trellis yours or is the trailing kind?
I have a trellis to plant them against. It for the most part stays in the 30's at night but we have frosts for another month and a half, can it take that ok..... should i cover it with burlap at night? thanks
Ok, after looking at the article again, it says In the mountains of NC, raspberries are prone to winter freeze injury as temps may fluctuate 40-50 defrees in a 24 hr period.
Im growing Dormanred raspberries which I think are better suited for the south and high temps. It also goes on to say these are prone to winter injury if left in the air in an exposed condition and Im supposed to lay them on the ground during winter (Dec/Jan/Feb).
So I guess you should check w/someoone else as this is my first year gardening.
