I have a couple of questions. As a bit of background, I am growing vegetables in low raised beds with lots of compost on very clay soil. It is my second year gardening in this place, but I have a lot of beds I didn't have last year.
1) I have had very little luck with ANYTHING. The tomatoes were okay, (better than last year), the peas did fine, the sunflowers did fine. Everything else has just been miserable. The thing that concerns me most is that I didn't get any summer squash except one tiny zucchini. Every squash starts out fine, then withers and rots. it is not a problem with pollination, because I have been hand-pollinating. I think it might be some major nutrient gap, but I don't have the money to get a good test. Anyone have any ideas?
2) Spider Mites! They are terrible! They did everything in that was still alive. I beat them back occasionally with sprays of water ( I hear it disrupts their reproductive cycle), and tried DE, but they are still everywhere. Any ideas?
