Got one butternut squash that looks pretty full size and it just changed colors to tan. But there are still a few green stripes on squash. How do I know when to harvest?

Vine also has 4 or 5 other butternut squashes that are in deciding order of size. After I harvest the largest one, will the other squashes grow to completion? Or does a squash vine always leave some underdeveloped squashes on the vine?

You cut off the squash when the stem starts to turn brown. Be sure to leave some stem on the squash. Sounds like you got a good harvest.

Well, just have one plant...a big one. But it made lots of squashes.

I had no idea the plants got so big. I planted 4 plants too close and the others must have died from shade from this big one.

Now I know I will plant with more space in mind next time.
