I still only see that one Luffa. That plant is growing up my deck and now trying to take over the swing on the deck. That plant is an idiot! All that vine and 1 luffa! It's crazy! Be back with a picture, You will gag! HaHa THIS MESS IS FROM 2 seeds I STARTED INDOORS AND TRANSPLANTED. GOOD GRIEF! My HUBBY THINKS I AM CRAZY To let this thing keep going, but they have to die back before I can harvest. So on it grows! I cut it back where the steps go down every morning, but that's not helping much.

HA HA HA!!!! I just posted a comment on another thread on this. That luffa is totally crazy isn't it??
Hey topofthehill - this would be great to cover a trellis! Mine luffa plant is very pretty! it's covered in pretty yellow blooms every day. Well maybe not covered, but speckled.
I'll try to post a pic tomorrow.
Lisaann, I have now found several little gourds. I'm so excited about this thing! These gourds grow soooo fast, though I worry that they'll get heavy. One day they're in one spot, and the next day it's like 5 inches lower.
So you've been cutting it back? That won't hurt the plant or anything right? Tha'ts something I REALLY need to do!!! It's already up the way-too-short trellis, over the top, back down, and going back up again - and gripping onto the siding, the rose next to it, the pot next to it, the low fencing around it, and shading out my sweet potatoes!
I'll try to post a pic tomorrow.

WOW! Ok...so where's the new pics? Right now I am stalking a new, small "blonde" woodchuck for Animal Control to come & (hopefully) trap! He trapped 2 older ones a few weeks ago & I thought they were gone, although my dog was still stalking the area & I just saw it run under my house, called the guy, went to peek & got pics of it ON MY PORCH! He must be hungry, but I have no apples. That's the bait he used in the trap & caught 2 in 3 days! Sorry to get off-topic here!

Hey lisaann! Those luffas are AWESOME! Holy Moly! You must be doing something right! I have been fine...just very busy with work, mostly. I have been so discouraged with my garden that I haven't even looked at it in a few days! It's been raining today, but I might go out later...got alot to do in the house, too! It's a cluttered mess & I don't even know where to start! Gotta start hoeing-out the house, that's for sure! I hope you are well!

We got a lot of rain too!! It was so relaxing at night my little one "slept in" until 7:30 one morning (as opposed to 6am - or even worse psychologically 5:59). So this is either 2 or 3 plants. I forget, but they have grown up, over and are making their way back up again. I pruned it back - cause Lisaann did! One question though - my one big luffa is almost touching the ground. Well, by now, I bet it is. Is this something I need to fashion some kind of sling for? Lisaann - I think I actually only have about 3 total, but the new ones looked a lot like the thick vines. do you really hate these guys? Oh, and do you have ants all over yours?? I do. Don't know what they heck they're doing, but they're all over.

Did you know: if late in the season your luffas start producing and it's too late for the baby ones to mature, you can eat them like any other squash. Just pick them small.
Abigail, 8 kids grown, 1 pms-ing and 9 grandkids- what a harvest!
