Dearest fellow plagued gardeners,
I live in zone 10 and have raised vegetable beds. This is our second year together and things have gone pretty well; with the very large and noted exception of the trillions and trillions of these pesky bugs. They put innumerable holes in my lush veggies. Does anyone know how to curb their enthusiasm and numbers? I've tried neem oil consistently but there have been no visable results. I'd love any advise. Thank you thank you thank you!!
Very appreciatively, mayhem mandy

I've been sprinkling red pepper and tabasco sauce, alot mixed in a quart of water, on my cucumbers and squash. Also planted some peppermint next to each squash plant. (Will hate myself for this next year when the mint is all over the place!) So far haven't seen many of the critters. Don't know if this is really working or if it is just a fluke. So far my zuchhini is fine and producing! Last year's crop was a disaster!

How about making a spray of hot pepper and mint!!! Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I've seen some bugs about nibbling, mostly the beans, but i notice a small spider and some assorted wasps about. This is a good sign.

I tried spraying the stuff I concocted but my bottle sprayer (cheapie) kept getting clogged. I just put it in a plastic container with a small hole in the top and sprinkle it around that way. I'm hoping the grasshoppers don't like it either. Just read that Iowa is in for grasshopper problems this year. Yikes.
