Has anyone had success starting vinca (the annual flower, not the groundcover) from seed? I've read it need darkness, it needs light, it needs heat, it needs cool --- I tried darkness and heat, but got nothing. Please help
I have grown vinca from seed in the past and don't remember having any trouble. According to "The Gardener's Home Companion" (the only book I'd keep if I could only keep one) vinca seeds need to be planted 1/4 inch deep, need darkness to germinate, and like it warm, 75 to 80 degrees. I takes one to two weeks for the seeds to sprout. Once they are up, cool things off to 60-75 degrees.
Are you sure you're not keeping them too hot? Is your seed fresh? Did you wait two weeks? Did you talk to them and beg "Please, please sprout"?
