Anybody else receive a letter from Kent Whealy (founder) of the Seed Savers Exchange? I let my membership lapse as I could never get seeds I wanted sent to Canada, but I got this letter from him.
Seems he's been thrown out as president of the organization, with Amy Goldman behind it. She is now the president of SSE. The letter went through four pages of what she and a couple of others did to throw him out after decades of work. I read the whole thing, waiting for what he wanted me to do about it.
He wants his personal computer and it's files back. They have refused him access to files that hold everything he did and was doing, and wanted to do with the Seed Savers Exchange, names and addresses of people he knew and worked with, etc., etc. He kept everything on the computer at work, with not even copies on his home computer.
He wants this information back to continue on other projects that he could still do without the SSE. I think he should be allowed to have his own work back. The man was a journalist before he fell into the SSE. By denying him access to his own files, they are making it very hard for him to pick up the pieces and find employment elsewhere.
I have enjoyed Amy Goldman's books, but after reading Whealy's letter, even if half of it is true, I don't think very highly of her anymore. Kent worked very hard to get the SSE to the point it is today, and it looks like Goldman is going to run the SSE into ruin.
So, anybody else get this letter from Kent Whealy, and if so, what is your opinion of the situation?
