I have just finished reading the recipie for a safe alternative for pressure treated wood. It includes 1.5 cups of boiled linseed oil. I have also seen this recommended by OG for preserving wooden handles of tools. I went and bought a gallon and I am nervous about the warnings in big red letters on the back which reads..."The use of this product will expose you to arsenic, beryllium, chromium, cadmium, and nickle which are known to cause cancer and to lead which is known to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm" This doesn't sound much safer than CCA or am I being paraniod? Can someone explain to me why this is safer? I really need a good wood preservative as I am building a greenhouse and, as God is my witness, I can't find a stick of cedar in the lumber yards, mills, and home centers in south central VA. Any info would be helpful. Thanks Diane
I see you have some problems as regards to boiled linseed oil. From your discription of the product you purchased I would allso. However non adultirated linseed oil can be found just takes a lot of looking. Perhaps your local hardware can help with a special order if you explain just what you need.I have not purchased any for some time so I could be out of touch with modern products ? Lots of luck Muzzelloader
