You know, I think I might try out a new signature line. Like it?

Kevin hasn't let us know where he lives. Perhaps he lives on the West Coast.. or lives around a college campus where kids drink bottled water like it is totally safe.. they refuse to drink tap water.. when I bet most of the water in the rest of the USA is cleaner and more chemical free than it is here with the Ohio River being our source of water.

If you read the local papers here and see all the violations of EPA laws going on by the coal companies, chemical companies, etc. etc.. You wouldn't want to drink the water either. But. I drink it anyway.. with a filter.

Dad had a saying about water running through a stream.. that the flow and sunshine killed bacteria or some such stuff to make fast tricking stream almost pure water. Of course, I drank water from the stream on what is now my sister's place..Nothing bad ever happened. There were chickens and cows upstream...by about 1000-2000 feet.

Anyone who goes to a box store, whines and complains about not having "organic" this or that, whats to brag to others about being "organic", has not a clue on what the media is selling, but they must be right, then buys a 15,000 sq.ft. bag of weed-and-feed, (24-D-- Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in the bag) again 2 months after the first to put on their tennis court size lawn, then has the gall to drive their Hummer to the local polls to vote and lecture to folks how the higher ups have screwed the environment, and attack others opinions.. Thats an "Eco-screamin-hardcase".. Or in some cases maybe I should have said "nutcase". Or to witness a lawn care company spraying fertilizer on a lawn while the irrigation is on, and the property goes down hill to a nice creek, then that same company touts their "New and Improved" packages for the homeowner with too much to do, and they are a "big voice" in congress, working for you, Or for your dollars. I mean come on, you have to see that too.
Thats the way some folks see it here in Richmond, Va. on the Chesapeake Bay Watershed, Zone 7a, Sunset Zone 32 while we are on our way to the James River to help the Chesapeake Bay Club monitor water contaminents that for some reason the Nixon era rules don't apply to some..
Although there has been some headway in getting some folks to cut back on chem's and do a little further investigation on what they need to kill, treat, or feed, there is still the majority who just don't give a hoot, but will get in your face about their way or the highway. Thats the ESH's. So go ahead and be one, and get over my original post.

No appetizers were killed in the greening of MY lawn.

Don't know anyone even remotely like that. Not here in Maine or back in NY where I lived most of my life, nor in any place in the country that I am the least bit familiar. People like that must be native to Richmond and I can't imagine why anyone would tolerate them. At least here in the North, Hummer owners know they are lower than whale crap and that having more money than brains is no badge of honor but they made their bed of crap and they lay in it. Not one of them would dare to claim to have any environmental leanings, knowing they would be laughed out of town, as if being given the finger by every other passing motorist isn't enough. Can't imagine why people in Richmond are any different, but I'll take your word for it that they are.

We in the North would not let them last in Congress if, by chance, one of them happens to sneak in under the radar. We work like hell to oust 'em.

Whining about some vague group of unnamed representatives that you have a special name for serves no purpose. Even that big "environmentalist" governor out west owned 8 of those G-damned Hummers and was instrumental in persuading GM to build those atrocious abominations, (bought the very first one off the line, the idiot boasted,) has reportedly sold off at least some of them when public opinion showed him to also have more money than brains.

You have three Congressional seats in your state up for grabs, except one which I believe is virtually uncontested by a so-called candidate who has managed to raise $0 for his campaign, a give-away to anti-environmental lobbyists and pollution spewers. The incumbant's website does not even mention the environment under issues he's concerned about. Why, in this day and age, couldn't the people there propose and support a serious candidate? What's wrong with people in your 1st District?

So what particular Eco-Hummer-2-4-D Senators or Members of Congress are you speaking of? Name names so those of us who care about legislation and not just whining about government know who to target in their next election cycle. And what are you doing to prevent that individual from representing you in the future? And why did you and your fellow Richmondites vote them in anyway?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Wayne

I hope we are all trying to be more organic, but it is difficult to be 100% organic. Maybe if we lived like the American Indians then we could say we were organic. We are all killing the planet. If you have electricity in your house, you are killing the planet.
