Not sure if any of you watch c-span but Congressmen Dennis Kucinich brought a 35-count resolution to the table to impeach Bush. It took Dennis 5 hours to list all 35 and included practically a-z under each. This was on June 9. They repeated it the next night with 4 different speakers.
Here is a link directly to the resolution .....click on the windows arrow icon, then click streaming video. http://www.c-spanarchives.org/library/index.php?main_pa...products_id=205889-3 For those that like to read.....here is the transcript. http://www.c-span.org/pdf/bush_impeach.pdf I have been researching on these issues and they are true. There is much more but Dennis is careful to list only what can be proven now. And that took him 5 hours! Listen for yourself and decide. Don't let them sweep this under the rug! Here is a link to access and e-mail your local congressman and tell him/her how you feel. It uses your zip code and took me 2 minutes. https://forms.house.gov/wyr/welcome.shtml |

Excellent information, thanks for sharing...to bad they can't just impeach him for ignorance. What a noob!
I just sent my congressman a blistering request asking that he join the group to impeach! This is the 2nd time I've actually written this Congressman. I may have to make this a habit, he needs more pen pals I'm sure. doccat5 zone 7b(well sorta) I'd rather be gardening! |

If it wasn't for the fact that Bush seems determined to pick a fight with Iran (Is this the "exit through Cambodia strategy") I'd be completely dismissive because there is no way that impeachment proceeding can be completed by January anyway.
But Bush seems to be trying to lay the groundwork for a war with Iran. He is trying to make it inevitable, and on the Republican side, there is a strong effort to make it appear that even talking with Iran would be a sign of weakness. So, reluctantly, and knowing that it's a pointless sideshow, never the less, I guess I have to support Mr. Kucinich. Kucinich might just as well be introducing a resolution to impeach the tooth fairy.
It is well within the power of the Congress to tighten up the standards under which the President may act pre-emptively if they so chose. They can do this both by restricting appropriations, as well as amending the War Powers Resolution. Kucinich instead choses to spend his time on something that not only isn't going anywhere, but would accomplish nothing. |

You're going down a road you don't want to travel. There are plenty of websites to discuss your subject, I suggest you go there. BTW, check out that big banner above , it says "organic" and "gardening". If you have problems with the hint just let me know and I'll explain in further detail, politely of course!
Dirt Trust me! I'm from the government, I'm here to help! |

I completely agree with that, and wish I had been thinking about the purpose of this board when I was posting my reply above. Mulch where you can Till if you have to Weed when you must It's all part of the plan. |

Why is it that people forget that our form of government has 3 parts that share the power? No one side can dictate without the support of the other sides as well. While I don't care for everything that is going on right now, I know it is not all the Presidents doing. He has had help from those other sides as well. And Dirt is right, this is not the place to be discussing these issues. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ LAUS DEO, Where ever I go, there I am. ..... major at nwi dot net ..... They should have impeached years ago. It's almost too late, the damage is done.

first off political threads are not allowed on this board so please check the rules. Second the war powers act was found to be unconstitutional after the first gulf war. |

Hogwash, gridgardener. The War Powers Act is still in effect and has been cited in recent years by the current administration to justify their actions. Cite the Supreme Court case that brought you to this erroneous conclusion. Wayne "If women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy." |

This just illustrates the problem with the left and environmentalism. I see organic agriculture as a means to produce food at a lower cost than the conventional agriculture industry can. Unfortunately, the political left has co-opted the environmental movement. Most environmentalists are first and foremost political. What they care about is advancing the leftist agenda, not conserving natural resources for future generations. |

If Congress has the legitimate power to dictate when, where and how the President can deploy the U.S. Army and Navy, apart from its power of appropriating money, how can the President exercise his constitutional power as commander-in-chief? |
||||
|
May want to go read the Constitution flaja.
Congress has the responsibility to declare war, commission privateers, raise an army as needed, to maintain a navy continously, to regulate the land and naval forces at all times, to establish a system to train and deploy the militia, to define and establish penalties for piracy; felonies on high seas; or against the law of nations. The President as Commander in Chief can only act within the rules and regulations established by Congress. The War Powers Resolution, rather then restricting the President, delegated clear authority to him to act without any constitutional ambiguity as to his authority in a more complex world. |
||||
|
Then the president has no power as commander-in-chief since he would have to go running to Congress every time he needs to deploy troops and you reading more into the Constitution than is really there. BTW: Congress does not have the power to deploy the militia/national guard of any state. The most Congress can do is make laws whereby the militia/national guard can be trained and called into federal service. Neither does Congress have any power to deploy the armed forces of the United States. The most Congress can do is pay for the armed forces and establish regulations for their training. |
