Why are the majoity of Americans so ambivilent to the potential health issues of scientifically altered foods? Our new president says that he will ensure science will take precedence over all else...I suspect the new bill will only be the first tep of many to reduce the overall nutritional value of our food all for the sake of preventing world hunger, or creating it...
It makes my blood boil that Scotts/Miracle Grow, (a subsidiary of Monsanto) will advertise with the slogan "Grow a garden that is safe to eat and beautiful to look at." Thanks for finally addmitting that you other products are not safe Monsato! |

What are you talking about? What "new bill" are you going on about? Since when is Scotts "a subsidiary of Monsanto" as you claim? Wayne "If women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy." |

The consumer Roundup(R) brand is marketed in North America and most of Europe exclusively by Scotts and is owned by Monsanto. Paul Turner

And that factoid does not makes Scotts "subsidiary" of Monsanto no matter how much you may want it to be. Wayne "If women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy." |

I certainly do not want Scotts to be a "subsidiary" of Monsanto.
The fact that consumer Roundup(R) brand is marketed in North America and most of Europe exclusively by Scotts and is owned by Monsanto does lead some to say Scotts is a subsidiary of Monsanto. So while Scotts may not be a "subsidiary" of Monsanto, they do exclusively market consumer Roundup which is owned by Monsanto. Paul Turner |

Sorry, Paul Turner, facts do not bend themselves to be whatever you want them to be. Scotts is a different company, despite what you or Klu believe it to be. If you and others come here to present your alarmist views and wish to be taken seriously, present them with facts. I know this is a concept foreign to some. Below is from an article written by Barbara H. Peterson. She references several sources, has her own website and includes her email if you have questions:
"GMO Technology Threatens the World's Food Supply Not only is GMO food harmful to the animals that eat it, but it also has the potential to overcome the crops around it. Insects, birds, and wind carry seeds into neighboring fields and beyond. This is cross-pollination, and cannot be controlled in an outdoor environment. Genetically engineered plants are no exception to this. The pollen from GM plants can cross-pollinate with normal plants and contaminate entire fields. With the proliferation of GM crops, this is a real danger. In 1996, there were approximately 6,563 square miles of farmland in the world devoted to GMO crops. In 2006, there were 393,828 square miles devoted to GMO crops (GMO Compass, 2007). This is a 5900% increase in land devoted to GMO crops in a 10-year period! At this rate, the amount of GM crops will double in the next ten years, not including cross-pollination factors.
