I bought BT this summer for control against caterpillars and other related pests. I have two questions.

1. I heard that if it gets to hot the culture will die off. It gets really hot here in Escondido. Thus, I put BT in a extra refrigerator. The temperature probably got to the high 30's, did I damage it?

2. I also heard that BT can be used against the larva of fungus gnats. I have looked far and wide on the internet for application to the soil. Do I mix a normal dose and just evenly pore it in the soil? I am aware that it nature occurs in the soil to begin with. I just built a 2X3X8 (h,w,l) raised bed out of 2X12's and I want to make sure the area is cleansed to some degree.

3. Most of my garden is allowed to dry off completely before re watering; however my compost bin is kept moist/wet(trying to avoid). I believe this caused the initial outbreak. Is there a high probability of this being true?

I really appreciate any educated input, whether experimental or thought driven.

=)
