Just discovered the change tonight, and don't know how to use this, yet. Right now I miss the old board, but maybe after I have some time to figure out this new one, it will be better.

That would be my guess! So, what do you think of the new "og"?

Personally, I believe the New OG Magazine is a bit on the "lite" side. It needs to get beefed up before I consider renewing...especially after the insulting way they "unsubscribed" us women from Organic Gardening and unsolicited, subscribed us to Organic Style.

yeah, the new magazine was pretty skimpy--I have about 4 years of old OG (complete with McGrath!) that I have saved. guess I'll just reread those for awhile.

I didn't get unsubscribed but for some reason the magazine is in my husband's name. (he of the BLACK thumb!)

at least this board is moving a bit faster

I think this new message board is a cover up. There was too much incriminating information in the old one about the way they switched readers without their permission and the reasons they did it, mainly being female. Pretty convenient for them that all of those posts are now just gone. I still haven't received OG, and got no apology. I gave them a chance. Now I'm going to cancel.

I agree. There are NO posting re the awful way so many were treated with the switch over. And, what about comments concerning the new "lighter than ever" OG? The folks at Rodale (especially Maria) have completely lost the vision---did they really think that people who get a kick out of heirloom vegetables, old-fashioned methods of gardening, and cooking from scratch would want a slick, shiny, "fluffy" magazine? Time to buy a clue, Maria...

Thanks for the news and please spread the word. The new magazine is not for true Organic Gardeners but the fluffy non-organic city folk! Maybe if we all complain we'll get our old OG back!

For those of you who missed the reams of messages on the Old Organic Gardening message board which has been conveniently deleted, you can get a flavor of the outrage at www.gardenweb.com Organic Gardening forum. There are at least 6 threads on this subject, because it has been a couple of weeks you will probably have to go to the back screens to find them.

I'm another recipient of the "switch". Was OFFERED the opportunity to get Organic Style. It wasn't automatic. Didn't take it and OG in whatever format didn't return. What is good in the new zine? I haven't seen it in the stores, either.

They didn't send you EITHER magazine? Have you called to complain? How many issues were left in your subscription?
Anyway... don't sweat not getting the Sept. iss of "og"...it's a huge dissapointment unless you're a chicken farmer. VERY thin (48 pages---15 of them ads!), dry as sqirrel corn, and of little value to all but the newest of gardeners. Most of the issue is dedicated to raising chickens---something the ordinances of my city frown upon!
My advice? Give up on Rodale. They've decided they can make more money with pornography ( have you seen Men's Health mag.?) and the organic sell-out of Organic Style. Instead, subscribe to Mother Earth News. They've added a lot more gardening articles---and they're MUCH better written. More timely, too---their latest issue has 2 articles on growing/using garlic---something we can plant within the next month or so.

I, too, received a disappointment in the mail, the new mag. However my e-mail to correct the problem was given quick attention, and I am waiting for an issue of OG. I don't quite understand what Rodale is trying to accomplish, but I do understand that everyone makes mistakes. Even publishers.
I say we should call, write, e-mail, to discuss our concerns, and give these folks a chance to pick themselves up from this major stumble of marketing experience. And have a little patience, while we ask for a remedy.

Hmmm. I received the switcho-chango as well. Organic Style was more than disappointing. It is, indeed, a sell-out, and it closely resembles the natural grocery store magazines that are GIVEN away at the checkstands. OG was very nice about switching me back. Only one problem: no magazine. Guess it's time to cancel. Thanks for everybody's input.
