>Sugar babies and yellow dolls....when oh when can >I pick??? I'd happily send you a yummy one if >you can give me the magic answer! Thanks I would agree with the first answer. Generally, for vine fruit, once the vine stgarts to shrivel, the fruit is as ripe as it's going to get -- time to harvest.
Sorry I'm so late answering, but my family and I have been too buisy enjoying our sugar baby and yellow doll, plus I [we] only got on the web a few days ago. I've grown these two varieties for a few years now and have found that a combination of time of season, for me it's harvest time around the beginning of sept., and the color of white on the bottom of the fruit. This is a knack that is easily developed after the first one or two seasons. I can go into more detail if you like, just ket me know.
