Feline Hyperthyroidism was (and still is) very close to my heart and created a vigilant search for discoveries and links about the disease that contributed to the loss of my beloved Tyler. Now, new information regarding a possible cause for increased incidences of feline hyperthyroidism has been revealed.

Flame retardent or PBDE's.

They're found in many household products, furniture, bedding and carpets, with which cats have decidedly more full body contact than humans (as well as ingestion because they're so fastidious).

They've also been found in, yes....cat food.
Studies have found over 100 times more PBDE exposure to cats in their food alone, than is acceptable for humans.
