Man, how easy they are to overlook, and yet how much they mean to our souls.

For example, today was Sunday, not much happened. But we unloaded the last moving box, and I unloaded a pickup truckload of 3-year-old composted horse manure a fellow bucket-loaded for free yesterday. And the grandkids are here for the evening. And I resolved the problem of frozen chicken water by placing a light bulb under a clay flower pot and putting their waterer atop that.

Nice day, all things considered, you know?

My blessings
* I have not lost a chicken since my 'boys' built the new yard
* my family is well and we are expectant grandparents
* I had perhaps my best garden, in spite of grasshoppers.
*Yesterday, the love of my life took me to lunch, today I made him pizza.

I like your posts, you never seem to complain, you are a positive poster here, thank you for reminding me to count them.

Yeah, a pretty nice day, even if it is cold and snowy. Fresh pumpkin bread is cooling on the counter and a winter nap is nice.

Yes, people who look at the brighter side of life bring blessings to everyone around them. Thank you, flatiron.

My belly is full, my bills are paid, my hubby is resting after a day's work and we're both warm. I have this here computer that my son bought me in May. My granddaughters are precious and Mrs. K, congratulations on your sweet expectation!

Hearing from you people is humbling. What a treasure we are given in such little doses we almost don't notice.

Love from Peter and the mountains.

Thanks for the reminder flatiron--If we've got enough to eat, a roof over our head, a warm place to sleep every night and people around us to love we are truly blessed!!

How about this one ... I am thankful to have the space in which to plant my garden! And also most especially for my little helper. He supervises well and is very good at digging. Big Grin

We're thankful...

...for a brand new grandbaby who is big (8 lb 14 oz and birth) and gaining (9 lb 3 oz yesterday at almost a week) and seems to be in perfect health.

...that daughter (19 in 2 months)is handling the transition to Momhood so well, and son (17)is handling the new baby in the household so well (found him walking the floor with a fussy l'il guy one day!).

...that DH and I have decent paying jobs.

...that the big oaf of a dog has taken the baby so seriously that he now raises Cain if a car arrives (used to welcome all DD's friends, now he makes DARN sure that everyone knows to be on their best behavior) and insists on sniffing the baby if he cries to see that all is well.

...That the wild turkeys so often come sailing down from their roosts atop the hill to land and graze in my yard.

Yep, life is good here in the holler.

The biggest blessing lately is the fall foliage here...GORGEOUS! I say that every year but this year seems to be especially beautiful.
And then the leaves fall and are turned into compost and the cycle goes around again.

Thankful I didn't set the turkey on fire this year; that the turkey was local AND organic free-range; that my meal adhered to the 164km diet (the 100-mile for Americans); and that we had some awesome guests with whom to share it all this year.

I have three seasons: GROW, *SEW*, and SEED CATALOG!

Did I mention how thankful I am that my favorite car mechanic found the engine problem BEFORE I took off on a 2000 mile road trip? Big Grin

Peter, thank you for starting this thread; we do indeed have so many reasons to be thankful!

For me, it's having my soulmate to share life with; we have so much fun just sitting out by the garden, sipping a glass of wine, watching the birds swoop up the hill and the clouds scudding across the sky. Our grandchildren are nearby, our children are thriving, the monarchs are getting ready for their long journey to Mexico...it's ALL good!

Peace

Being able to go to the farmer's market and buy a couple of nice tomatoes, since ours have fizzled out.

Cats and dogs.

Living close to the ocean; not that I've been there in months.

That time of day when Hubby comes home.

LOL, c'mon over, Weed--the wild turkeys that roost at the top of the hill have been landing in my front yard--DH and I are talking about hanging a gunrack on the porch rail with a couple of shotguns!
