I would run a virus scan and check for spyware, if it's not from a hacker, it may be gremlins. Are you sure it's not a practical joker living under your roof? It's not your browser. You can right click on the desktop and sort your icons. Someone may be playing a wee joke on you. Do you hear any giggling, chortling or detect unusual mirth from your housemates?

nope, I live alone, and my cat is smart, but I don't think she turns the computer on. No Gardenz, I have a PC.
I think a virus scan, spyware would be a good idea, Gold Pearl, can you recommend one?
My protection is avg free. Every once in a while I have weird things happen which make me suspect I should do a virus scan. I come across them every so often, but sometimes using the wrong one can lead to problems.
If you recommend one it's gotta be easy. As you can see I am not exactly a computer expert. Thanks.
Gardenz, reason I use my desktop so much (it's almost filled with icons), is I have so many things in my "My Documents". Then I started using the C drive to store things. Now I also use del.ico.ios which is good.
So I use my desktop to keep things handy.
