I emailed two large organic CSAs in my vicinity and one answered back and said I could come for a tour. I went yesterday and spent an hour looking at how they grow and asking questions. It was really nice. This farm is certified organic and does many CSAs and sells to restaurants and co-ops like the Wedge in Minneapolis. Although they are in the next county their soil is similar to mine.

What struck me as different from the personal garden way of growing was the way they get a crop in and harvested and then quickly removed. So all they had growing right now was fall greens and radishes along with some cover crops and legumes. The rest of the land was getting cover cropped if it wasn't already.
In my garden everything is as it was all summer and lots of stuff is gone to seed or past harvest. Anyway it was very interesting and I was very grateful to get a tour!

Small market and CSA grower. Doing too much by myself.

Sounds like an interesting tour, and we learn all the time, huh? Confused

Good luck to you! Smiler

my in-laws have been in agriculture their whole lives, and I would love to find a farm tour to give to them. I know they would love traveling to a different area of the country, like down south this winter, and tour different kinds of farms.

But I have done a couple of googles and really not found anything, does anyone here know of a good company? mk

I don't know of a tour right off. But I was reading the farms in Ohio are planning on getting involved in Agritourism. Have you considered looking in to a state agriculture site to find a farm? Pick a state and look up their extension agency.
