Just found this forum and thought I would join in, it appears to be very interesting here.
I have always loved having a garden but three yrs ago I thought my gardening days were over. I was in an auto accident that left me disabled and getting down on the ground is a huge no no. Who wants to pick up a 46 yr old off the ground while she cries like a baby LOL.
Hubby came to the rescue and started building me raised garden beds. He is such a love. So we are back at it this year. The Strawberry Patch was revamped and just doing wonderful. The Asperagus was so happy to be salted, it had been a few years. We got Loofah's and Cucumbers going, hubby has them climbing an arch he made out of metal cattle panels. Green Beans are in a few other beds going crazy and the 21 tomato plants have turned into trees with some tomato's already that are much bigger than my hand.
I'm so very happily married for 20 yrs now, Mom to three adult sons and 1 daughter who is still at home, Nana to the most amazing grandson ever and a furmama to our 3 furbabies, 1 golden and 2 Shih Tzu's.
Okay I've bored ya all long enough with stuff about me, I'm outta here to go and read about all of you. Hope everyone is having an awesome day!
I will try to get a photo of the raised beds built by the naval construction battalion for the veterans at the veterans administration garden. these raised beds are hindged(msp?) and can be pulled out by whellchair vets to there laps where under instruction by the therepists(again mspelled)of the va. good upper body workout. i believe concrete rebar on inch in diameter with heavy hindges were used to swing the raised beds out just over the wheel chair heights....clear as mud??
Welcome! My (now adult) son was also in an auto accident and is wheelchair bound but it sounds like you made a good recovery! He suffers from on going chronic issues from the accident and can not function independently. I need to figure out how to make my garden so he can come out with me and keep me company while I am out there. We just moved in May so I am still getting things worked out!

Thank you all for the welcome. I've gotten to read around a bit, will get more done once grandson has gone home for the day. He really thinks that I should do nothing that doesn't involve him. LOL.
Good O Boy-the beds you are talking about sound just amazing. I hope you can get some pics also, would love to see those.
ecsoehng-Sorry to hear that your son was hurt so badly. I'm not wheelchair bound yet though I do have a scooter for places that will require a lot of walking. (ya know you could have road rage in one of those in wal mart, they move that fast lol) All my damage was to my lower spine. Three surgeries were supposed to fix me but they didn't and the last they sent me home with a nice staph infection so I had to go back again and have another operation. The large nerve cluster in my lower spine was damaged. The left leg has already started going away and the right won't be far behind. God willing it wont come to qiuckly. I'll keep my eyes open if I see anything that I think might be a helpful idea for you, to have him join you. I'm sure you both would love it.
