Last month my husband bought a pkg of fruit of the loom socks and I went to throw them into the washer before he wore them. Not a single sock was the same size as another--we're talking tube socks--not rocket science--there were some that were 3-4" shorter than others. The only bright side was now I don't have to worry about matching up pairs because there aren't any pairs. I just hemmed some jeans for my midget daughter. She's 5'3 and I had to cut off 4" of pant leg. Most of our clothing is made in China. The sizes vary. You will get true sizes if it's quality made in the USA but you won't find it for $9.99.

The thing about those socks is, if you stretch them a little, they are the same size. Never had a problem with them, but I get the extra long ones that are covered by my skirts anyway. Now if they could keep them from falling down as they age...

I still have pairs of colored socks, orange, green, yellow, red etc. that I got a number of years ago. My students used to find them amusing. My kids did not, so I now wear them around the house and in the garden.

Yes, I also have separate gardening attire and I'm glad that my garden is in the back of the house so that hardly anyone sees me wearing it. There are rips and tears caused by tomato cages and chicken wire and who wants to sweat in good clothes anyway? I just ruined my favorite T-shirt from a trip to Arizona because I didn't get changed before hand squishing bag worms. Who would have though that they had indelible bug juice inside them?
