He sprinkles this on everything, from corn on the cob to dippy eggs.
It's a very basic recipe, and it sure beats having to keep all the individual seasonings in front of him. hahaha 2 tablespoons OREGANO 2 tablespoons THYME 2 tablespoons BASIL 3 tablespoons powdered ONION 4 tablespoons powdered GARLIC 4 tablespoons BLACK PEPPER 1/3 cup PAPRIKA 1/3 cup ground HOT PEPPERS (habanaro or cayenne) 1/3 cup SALT |

Sounds like that would be good on just about everything!

Except for the basil & the varying quantities, that mix is identical to Emeril's famous "Essence" that he pretty much uses in & on everything. I always have a batch made up in the pantry - absolutely terrific as a dry rub on catfish filets, added to chili, taco meat, etc., etc. Great stuff & definitely cheaper to make up yourself instead of buying his ready-made at the store.

Hi breezy,
Never heard of Emiril, but yeah it's about as basic of a recipe you can get. Have ya ever made Mrs. Dash's recipe? It's like that. Except for the dried vegetable flakes. Beansprout posted Mrs. Dash's recipe 2 years ago. I dried carrots and celery and turnips, well a bunch of vegetables to make the flakes. Anything you want to throw in the dehydrator. Well, you get the picture, dry and have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

LisaAnn, you've gotta get out more! Turn on the food network one of these days when you have a minute.

Bam!
In my defense, I only have an antenna! No cable! Good grief! You are right I need to get out more! Hahahahhahahaahahah |

I didn't have cable until I moved to ND. It was part of the deal I made with myself. I am so glad for cable!!! Food network, weather, and HGTV. I rarely watch anything else.
"Bam!" is Emeril's favorite thing to say. He also likes to "kick it up a notch." Of course we do, too! |

Thanks for sharing this recipe, Lisaaann. I mixed it up, put it into a shaker, labeled it "homemade BAM" and hubby says that it is a winner.

If you ever want to see the difference (which is very minor), just go to The Food Network website & do a search on Emeril's Essence. He prints a recipe for it on every recipe in which he uses it (which is quite a few!). So at least he's kind enough to not be anal about people making it up themselves. It's a very versatile mix.
