Built the fish on Monday and mounted it today.
Guess I was tired of all the gardening stuff... |

I LOVE it! Great job on the fish. Did you carve it out of a block of wood? If yes what did you use to carve it? Nice paint too. My DH carves and paints fish. I know the fins can be troublesome. How big is the sign? It looks awesome.

Sweet. I know a few people who would love to hang something like that up in their garage.
I have three seasons: GROW, *SEW*, and SEED CATALOG! NOT a Keebler. |

POGO:
I carved it out of a 2" X 12" piece of doug fir. I had to add a piece to make the dorsal fin. The salmon is approx 32" X 14" what its mounted on is 38" wide 24" high. I use a variety of tools but mostly a small grinder, skill saw, recip saw and dremel. I paint with rattle cans and my wife free hands the eyes and gills then uses a rubber trowl to highlight the fins. I have been carving fish for about 10 years now and am just coming in to my own. |
