One of the things that's been keeping me busy, lately. I don't get to photograph many of them before they go to their new homes, but I had to get a shot of this one. It's off to a 3yo girl, destined for (I hope) many car trips, front lawn picnics, and ice cream drips.
The Back. As you can see, it appears to meet most Cat Guidelines: it's soft, fuzzy, and on the floor.
Made entirely from flannelette in my stash, some of it dating back to 2003 (the eyeball fabric specifically, and I have MORE to use up!).
My main challenge now is the USING UP. I'm sort of fabric-fasting again, except when someone at the market requests certain hues I just don't have, despite the sheer volume of cotton languishing in my sewing room.

That is the cutest thing I've ever seen! I love the pattern, and the hard work that obviously went into it. Great job.

You amaze me with all that you do!! That is absolutely adorable. I know that this quilt will become that little girl's favorite thing to take along with her.

I've never been much of a quilt guy, but the last 2 years at the county fair, I saw several I liked while I was checking out the art. It is in the same building with the quilts. A few caught my eye and made me look closer. Quilts have come a long way. No longer just a craft. They are an art form. My wife was with me and she agreed. Elfie, that is a very nice design. That girl will love it. Great job!!
Muddy knees David! Compost is my friend. Every day I enroll in gardening school. Some days it feels like kindergarten!
I love it! And the cat too! I just got some quilt batting yesterday so I can start quilting my latest top. I made the top 2 years ago It's for my king size bed, so it's a big one. I will post pics when I finish it in about 6 years

Oops, I forgot to mention that this came from a pattern, it's not my own design. It's Simplicity 2935 (Crafts).
Chris - I am quite willing to destash on you, but postage is a deal-killer for me right now.
Gardenfairy - I win! I have a mariner's compass queen-sized top still waiting to be finished (as in pieced) since 2002! The quilt currently on my bed was done over a span of 2 years, too, from scraps left over from my maternity jammies and wedding signing cloth projects and a frayed old polyester comforter (the "bed in a bag" type). What a wrestling match, quilting that in my Janome RX18S, the standard home sewing machine. Speaking of batting: I happened upon some bamboo batting (aka "arctic fleece") that feels like felted kittens, and it's cheaper than cotton! Mmmmmmm... felted kittens...
I got a call from the sewing machine store where I bought my embroidery machine. (FABRIC FASTING, not sewing machine fasting.) They forgot to give me one of my freebies when I bought the machine, so I went back... and broke my fabric fast. *sigh* But it was this print:
so I don't feel too guilty. I missed out on this one, though:
I'll have to order it online at reprodepot.com. I'm thinking... apron lining. Can't have the kids looking at that while I'm doing the dishes, after all... but *I* will know it's there. And I don't think my husband would let me back a quilt with it, unless I intended to sell the quilt.

I have been on a fabric fast since I passed all mine onto you, but I got a fab piece of fabric at a yard sale,it's about 2 meters and a heavy one. Lovely orange and beige witha very nice pattern.i haven't decided what to do with it yet.If I don't use it in a reasonable time I'll pass it on. I wish I knew how to make such fantastic stuff as you.ps the guy across the street is a firefighter I bet his wife would love that fabric. Mavis

I'm not sure what I'll do with the fabric -- it's going to be something big, of course.
Froogie - I got the fabric at my favourite fabric store ever. You can get it at a local-to-you quilt shop that carries the Alexander Henry fabrics collection. Or reprodepot.com - search for "firefighter fabric".

reprodepot.com is a great fabric shopping website. The cottons are good-quality, too. You can get just about ANYTHING there.
