DS's girlfriend's mom wants me to make a tshirt blanket of all the girlfriend's highschool tshirts. BEFORE GRADUATION!!!! I am hoping it's quite simple, anyone have any ideas, pics, etc??

If it can be a one day project, fine. But this could cut in to my dirt time!

Thanks!

Mumsey, that's why they call me TEEQUILT BARBIE. It's a small business I've had for >15 years...I make t-shirt quilts for folks...mainly for just that occasion, high school graduation.

I can tell you it depends on how many shirts she has. I normally use 16" squares. But I have a method now because of doing so many.

If you want me to tell you my exact procedure, I'll be glad to do it. Email me at "delcarlos@embarqmail.com" and I'll type it out for you. I LOVED to do them...they hold lots of memories, but won't lie, it's a bit of work. Wow, who'd have thought...on the OG website? Big Grin

I've never made a tshirt blanket, but I made a tshirt pillow. Bought a team shirt for my SIL and it was a little tight,si I cut it and made a pillow for his car. He loves it and his team is the Red Wings hockey team.

wow, that's great t-quilt barbie. Your screen name makes perfect sense now. I've been saving my son's sports tee shirts since they were little to make them a quilt with for their graduations Big Grin. I'd love to hear your method, even if I do have a few years yet (and a lot of tee shirts!). Maybe I'll email you too Smiler

CoolOh thanks...I emailed those of you who emailed me. For others, I haven't been around since Thursday as my FIL took very ill and we had to go to Chicago to "say goodbye". He's 95, diabetic and has heart and b/p problems. We thought he was a goner, but has steadily improved and might go home later this week. Long story, but after 2 cardiac arrests he's doing ok...wife didn't have the "living will" so they had to "do everything" though he didn't want it. Now everythings in place, so if God calls again,,,it's an express train to heaven for the little old guy. So prayers for Nonno (that's what the kids called him=Italian for Grandfather) please and my MIL...who's almost 89. Thanks. TQB Smiler

We will think of him. It's interesting how this sounds like the hospital trip happened almost specifically to remind Nonna and Nonno to get their paperwork in order. Roll Eyes (It kind of went that way for my grandfather last year... he got all his estate paperwork in order, and died shortly thereafter. Except he had made plans for the summer.)

Thanks, Elfie, I think you're exactly right. Despite everything it was a great family weekend with all the grandkids coming in from different states and colleges to see him.

I think it's almost prepared everyone for the eventual passing without the sudden shock. Now everyone expects it at any time.

It was also great to see my kids, Leah 35, Dominic 32 and neices, Lauren 21, and twins Katie and Kali 19 being so appropriately sad and supportive at the same time.

Hey, sounds like you know some Italian grandparents too. Yes, it's Nonna and Nonno...but for some reasons the kids always called her Nonni. This is the man that drove his car way too long, in case you may remember. He's not driving any more, and thankfully, neither is she. Thanks, all.

Thanks everyone...Nonno did pass this morning very peacefully. He was in hospice and so all was comfortable. Thanks for your prayers and good thoughts for us all.

My condolences to you & your family too, TQB!

I am glad that you got to go and say your goodbyes & see the others doing the same:

Even though you all saw his end coming, and it's a natural part of life, it is still hard to let someone go. Frowner

I'm sending my condolences too. It sounds like when he was here, he made the world a better place. I know and your family will cherish all the happy memories you have of him.

Thanks for all the prayers and good wishes, everyone. Yes, it's hard but all goes on. I saved some flowers from the funeral and hope to dry them and use the seeds to grow plants next spring for all in the family. The circle of life continues. Thanks again...all are doing ok.
